You have the idea of a life abroad. Maybe you already know where you’re going. Maybe you’re still choosing.

Either way, the hardest part usually isn’t the dream. It’s the long list of practical decisions between here and there, and not knowing which ones matter first.

We know that feeling well. We’ve moved five times across four continents as a multinational couple. Now, with our little one, we’ve learned that moving as a family is a different thing entirely: more to hold together, more to protect, and more to gain.

So we wrote the guide we wish we’d had: practical, honest about the hard parts, and still excited about what’s on the other side. By the end, you won’t just have more information. You’ll have a written plan: what you’ve decided, what’s still open, who is doing what and by when, and what comes next.

What you get

Everything is digital and sent by email. Print and copy the worksheets as often as your household needs.

  • The guidePDF, 167 pages

All five stages, with the key decisions at the start of every chapter and step-by-step “how to” instructions for the jobs a consultant would normally do, like getting shipping quotes you can actually compare.

  • Worksheet packPDF, 30 worksheets

Record your decisions and compare your options side by side, from the family dashboard and destination scorecard to school, insurance and shipping comparisons, residence and work-rights records, and a travel-day run sheet.

  • Cash-Flow PlannerExcel

Shows your lowest balance on any date, not only at month-end, so a deposit or school fee never catches you short.

  • Planning ToolkitExcel

The family dashboard and comparison tools, set up to do the sums for you.

  • Worked examplesInside the guide

Three families: an employer posting, an independent move and a short-notice move, with numbers that add up, so you can see how a real family fills in the tools.

Five stages, taken in order

Work out which stage you’re in and start there. The later stages can wait until you need them.

  1. 1

    Decide

What must be true for the move to work, deciding together, comparing destinations, and whether you can afford it.

  2. 2

    Prepare

Residence and work rights, schools, childcare, money, healthcare, housing, shipping, pets and the partner’s plan.

  3. 3

    Transit

Closing your current life, packing and the carry-on, saying goodbye, and moving day.

  4. 4

    Arrive

The first 72 hours, registrations, settling the children and the home, and a first-month review.

  5. 5

    Thrive

Life at 90 days, friendship and language, the partner’s next chapter, and whether to stay or move again.

Sound familiar?

Five stages. Five hard moments. One system that walks you through each one.

Whether you are still deciding or your flights are already booked, start at the stage you are in. Here is what each one feels like, and what the System gives you for it.

  • 01 Decide · Two kids, two careers

“We’ve made three spreadsheets and had the same conversation five times. We just want to know we’re choosing for the right reasons.”

    In the System

The four questions to answer before anything else, and a clear way to compare destinations on what matters to your family, not just the cost of living.

  • 02 Prepare · Leaving in five months

“We said yes to the move. Now I have forty tabs open and nobody can tell me what to do first.”

    In the System

A preparation timeline that puts visas, schools and finances in the right order, so you always know the next thing to do and what can wait.

  • 03 Transit · A toddler and a dog

“Everything we own is on a ship somewhere. We’re living out of suitcases, and I’m holding it together for the kids. Just.”

    In the System

What has to happen in the final month, how to get through moving day itself, and how to keep the in-between weeks calm for the children.

  • 04 Arrive · Three weeks in

“The flat is fine. School has started. So why does buying a SIM card feel like climbing a mountain?”

    In the System

Your first weeks, step by step: the essential registrations in month one, and honest guidance on the emotional side of arriving.

  • 05 Thrive · Year two, third country

“The kids have friends now. I’m still the one at the school gate who doesn’t quite belong yet.”

    In the System

How to build community on purpose, a 90-day check-in to see what is working, and the long game of making a place feel like home.

The right decisions, at the right time, whichever stage you are in.

Who it’s for

  • Families moving abroad independently, as remote workers, entrepreneurs or by choice
  • Families who already know where they’re going and need to know what to do first, and families still choosing a country
  • Families relocating with an employer, or deciding whether to accept a posting
  • Diplomatic, development-sector and military families facing a new posting

What it won’t do

  • It won’t make moving countries painless. Some parts are simply hard, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
  • It isn’t legal, visa or tax advice. It tells you clearly when you need a qualified adviser, and what to ask them.
  • It isn’t a travel guide, a country law manual or a plan for travelling indefinitely as a nomad family.

Why “Founders Edition”

The first families to use the System get it at a lower price than it will have later. Once you’ve used it, we’ll ask what helped and what didn’t. Your answers will shape the final version.

Questions

When can we get it?

The System launches in November 2026. Join the waiting list and we’ll email you as soon as it opens. Joining is free and doesn’t commit you to buying.

Does it work for our destination?

Yes. The planning method works for a family move to any country. Rules and costs change often, so the guide shows you what to check and where, and our free destination articles carry current country detail with the date we last checked it.

We’re moving in three months. Is it too late?

Not at all. The guide includes an eight-week route for short-notice moves and tells you which stage to start with.

What do we receive, and can we edit it?

A PDF guide, a PDF worksheet pack you can print, and two Excel files you can edit. You’ll need Microsoft Excel or a spreadsheet app that opens .xlsx files. Everything is delivered by email.

My employer is relocating us. Is it still useful?

Yes. Employer packages usually cover the logistics. The System covers the rest of the family’s move: schools, childcare, the partner’s plan, money, and settling in.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Once you’ve bought the System, if it isn’t right for your situation, contact us within 14 days for a full refund.

Are the course and the Partner Guide included?

No. The course and the Accompanying Partner Guide are separate products, coming later.

Your family deserves a plan, not a pile of browser tabs.
